Cookies and browser storage

This version of the website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It uses localStorage, a form of browser storage, for two functional preferences. Fonts and images are hosted with the website.

silkware-consent stores your analytics choice, the consent notice version, and the choice and expiry dates. This is necessary to respect your decision. Both acceptance and rejection last six months. After expiry we ask again, keeping analytics off until you allow it. An expired record is ignored and may remain in browser storage until your next choice or until you clear it.

silkware-theme stores your light or dark theme only when you choose it. It remains until you change it or clear the website's browser data. Preferences apply across this website's languages and are not sent to Umami.

Optional analytics with Umami Cloud

Only after you select "Allow analytics" do we load Umami Cloud, provided by Umami Software, Inc., to understand which pages and content people use and improve the website. The legal basis is consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(a).

Analytics includes page paths, titles, referring websites, language, browser and device information, approximate location, and interactions with contact links, FAQs and the form. Umami also receives connection data such as your IP address, which it states it does not retain in analytics records. We do not send form email addresses or messages, URL query parameters or fragments. We do not enable user identification, session recordings or advertising.

We use Umami Cloud's EU data region and Hobby plan, which provides six-month analytics retention. Your browser choice also lasts six months, separately from retention of statistics already collected.

Without a choice, after rejection or after withdrawal, the website sends no new analytics. We also respect your browser's Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Website features and form submission work without analytics consent.

When you contact us

The form collects the email address and message you enter and sends them through Amazon Simple Email Service to lorenzo.ye@silkware.dev. We use them to read and answer your enquiry. We do not automatically add you to promotional mailing lists.

For enquiries about possible services, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, GDPR Article 6(1)(b). For other business correspondence it is our legitimate interest in handling communications, Article 6(1)(f). Submission is optional; without an email address and message we cannot handle the enquiry. Please avoid sensitive or unnecessary personal information.

Enquiries that do not become an ongoing business relationship are deleted from the mailbox within twelve months of the last correspondence, unless a legal obligation or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims requires longer retention. If a business relationship develops, relevant information is retained to manage it and meet applicable legal obligations.

Providers and technical data

Netlify hosts the website and its endpoint. Amazon Web Services sends the emails. Our email provider handles correspondence. Umami receives analytics only when you allow it. Authorised personnel and the providers operating these services may access the relevant data.

Hosting and email services may process IP addresses, timestamps, requests and technical metadata to deliver and protect the service. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in service availability and security, GDPR Article 6(1)(f). Technical log retention depends on enabled features and providers' operational and security retention periods. The application code does not log form contents.

Umami's EU region does not rule out processing outside the European Economic Area by international providers or their subprocessors. Their data processing agreements describe applicable transfers and safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where applicable. You can request further information at info@silkware.dev.

Changing your choice and withdrawing consent

Use "Cookie settings", available in the footer and below, to allow or reject analytics at any time. Both choices have equal prominence. Closing the banner with its X rejects analytics; browsing or scrolling does not give consent.

Withdrawal stops new events and does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. It does not automatically delete analytics already collected. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies only to the current page. Clearing website data removes your preference and leaves analytics off until you consent again.

Your rights

Where the GDPR provides these rights, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. Email info@silkware.dev. Where analytics does not identify you, it may not be possible to locate your individual visits.

You may complain to Italy's Garante per la protezione dei dati personali or your competent supervisory authority. We do not use website data for automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
